As Tovia prepares to leave us, she has written
a few words of gratitude to Ofelia Barreiro, our Director of Studies, for
helping her to organise a wonderful skype session shared by our Year 11 students and Tovia´s classmates in the States.
We share Tovia´s enthusiasm, and hope this will
be a long-lasting relationship.
Here is Tovia´s letter:
Hi Ophelia,
I just wanted to thank you
for giving me the opportunity to share what I have been doing here for the past
few months with my class in the States.
I am very happy to tell you
that I think the skype session went very well- we skyped for over an hour! In
the skype session, we used both English and Spanish to communicate- my classmates
at GDS (my school in the States) asking questions in Spanish, while my
classmates here responding to them in English (because my classmates in the U.S
have very limited Spanish knowledge- only studying the language for two years).
After the initial question and answer stage, my classmates here performed some
of the dances that they will be performing at the end of the year showcase as
well as a couple of poems that they have been working on- in English.
I have also received many
emails from different administrators and teachers in my school, telling me how
impressed they are with my class here, and how they would also love to skype
sometime or become pen pals.
Both my classmates here and
my classmates in the States are also going to exchange email addresses and
facebook addresses- to keep in contact. I am very excited to see where this
leads.
Thanks again for this
wonderful opportunity and I hope both these amazing schools can keep in
contact- even after I return to the states.
Sincerely
Tovia
Rosner
