ENGLISH PROJECTS Year 11.

"We have to do more to protect the environment...."

The students of Year 11 have been working on environmental mind-maps. They have thought of different environmental problems and have come up with specific actions to improve the situation.

Afterwards, they made a poster to hang and remind everyone of the situation.

ENGLISH MIND MAPS: 

My students of Year 8 have been working on different units of vocabulary: food, clothes, sports, animals...This time, they have used Mind Maps, a mix of different resources to present ideas: words, lines, colours, pictures etc...

By using a mind map, the kids come up with new ideas, emphasise different points, make connections between different areas and produce a more creative work.

ESTUDIANTES AMERICANAS: YEAR 11

En 4º de ESO al igual que en años anteriores, estamos disfrutando de la experiencia de tener entre nosotros dos estudiantes americanas, educadas y trabajadoras que proporcionan tanto a alumnos como a profesores la oportunidad de convivir con dos personas de un país con costumbres completamente diferentes. Todos estamos encantados de tenerlas entre nosotros. 

Aquí os dejo una foto de las dos y cómo describen la experiencia que están viviendo entre nosotros.

Hi, my name is Tovia Rosner, I am currently in year 11 at Laude Fontenebro School and I am from Washington DC. The reason that I chose to come to Spain was because I love learning about new cultures and having different adventures. I have taken spanish for the past 2 and a half years in the U.S. I have found everyone here to be very welcoming and patient with me. In my school in the states, we do not have a uniform, so here, wearing a uniform is a different experience. I am also taking German for the first time, which is a bit challenging. All my teachers have been very helpful, spending extra time with me to ensure that I understand the material and am comfortable in class. I am starting to get used to eating lunch at a later time, in the US, lunch is at noon and dinner is much earlier. These has been such a great experience and I can´t wait to have more adventures in Spain.

Hi my name is Michal Mandil and I am an exchange student from New York city in 4 ESO at the Laude Fontenebro school. So far my experience here has been really great and although challenging, exciting and new. School here is different from school in american in the sense that i wear a uniform, which definetely cuts down my getting ready time in the morning. My grade is also much smaller and we eat lunch at school in the cafeteria. I am also taking french for the first time which is very challenging. Everyone who i have met and the school has been so patient and understanding with me and with the fact that my spanish is not great. I am so excited to continue learning, adventuring and meeting new interesting people during this experience.

Students have chosen some of mankind's greatest minds: Gandhi, Newton, Franklin....

They have done Internet research, organized the facts they have found and shared what they have learnt about their biographies through oral presentations.

TRABAJOS DE FRANCÉS

Pour le deuxième trimestre les élèves de français de 3º ont fait un travail sur leurs grands-parents. L’objectif était de travailler les temps du passé et aussi d’en savoir plus sur eux. Ce fut une grande expérience pour les élèves car ils ont pu ainsi connaître certaines coutumes et certains  aspects de la vie quotidienne d’avant.

Voici un exemple de l’un des projets qui a été réalisé.

LIBROFORUM

Ana Alonso escritora de "La llave del tiempo" ha estado con nuestros alumnos de 1º ESO.

Así describe Fernando Romo, alumno de 1º ESO B esta experiencia:

La llave del tiempo es un libro lleno de aventuras e intriga. Es de ciencia ficción y te mantiene pegado o pegada a sus hojas. Yo estuve así las 350 páginas del libro. Cuando acabas el libro, te quedas con ganas de más.

  

Ana Alonso, aparte de hablar de su libro compartió con nosotros su niñez. Dijo que cuando era niña, en 5º de Primaria, hicieron una revista  y que desde ese momento se aficionó a escribir. Empezó a escribir poemas e historias que guardaba en un cajón. Pero era muy tímida y no los sacó hasta que hubo un concurso de poemas. Con unos cuantos relatos de su cajón ganó el concurso. Cuando llegó a la universidad conoció a su actual marido Javier Peregrín. Á el le pasaba lo mismo: que escribía y nadie leía sus relatos. Gracias a Javier y a Ana tenemos un libro fantástico y entretenido.

Otra opinión nos la da Alejandro Sanz alumno de 1ºESO A:

La charla que nos dio la autora Ana Alonso sobre el libro " La Torre y la Isla" y sobre la colección, La Llave del tiempo, me pareció bastante interesante, ya que me había leído el libro y me encantó. Ella nos ha hablado de cómo empezó a ser escritora. Nos dijo que había ganado varios concursos de poemas, también nos ha dicho que ella al principio no se atrevió a presentar sus historias y poemas por miedo a que la gente se riera de sus sentimientos. Ana nos ha contado bastantes cosas que piensa sobre el libro. Ella ha escrito esta colección con su marido Javier Pelegrín pero también ha escrito libros sola. Al acabar la charla le hemos preguntado cosas del libro y de la colección. Para teminar nos ha firmado los libros.
