SPECIAL MUSIC DEBUTA EN PÚBLICO

Aquí os dejo unas fotos de nuestro grupo de Special Music debutando en público. ¡Enhorabuena chicos y mucha suerte!

ALBERGUE 2014

ALBERGUE DE MOMBELTRÁN

Los pasados días 7, 8 y 9 de mayo los alumnos de 2º, 3º y 4º de ESO, junto con los profesores Virginia y Fernando, fuimos de albergue a Mombeltrán, donde, una vez más, nos felicitaron por tener unos alumnos tan bien educados.

El miércoles pasamos un bonita mañana visitando Ávila, donde los alumnos participaron en un yincana con premio para los equipos ganadores. De esta forma vimos algunos de los monumentos más significativos de la ciudad.

Por la tarde llegamos a Mombeltrán, donde visitamos el castillo (que está bastante bien conservado) y escuchamos, de boca de un historiador, cómo se construyó, cómo vivían en aquellos castillos, etc.

Al día siguiente nos dividimos en dos grupos; unos fueron a las tirolinas y a ver el centro de interpretación de la Sierra de Gredos, y otros se quedaron en el pueblo, practicando distintos deportes (tiro con arco, pádel, etc). Por la tarde, los grupos cambiaron. Esa noche tuvimos una fiesta en el albergue, donde pudimos bailar y pasarlo bien.

A la mañana siguiente, realizamos un paseo hasta “Playa Blanca”, un recodo del río donde los más valientes se bañaron. Recogimos rápido y emprendimos nuestro regreso a Madrid, donde nos esperaban los padres.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS VI.

MATEMÁTICAS SOLIDARIAS:

Una de nuestras profesoras de Matemáticas, Ana Siguero y ayudada por sus alumnos ha dirigido un proyecto denominado "Matemáticas Solidarias" para el que han fabricado variados productos, como pulseras, llaveros, portavelas, estuches, billeteros, imanes, coleteros...que han vendido durante este día de puertas abiertas.

El dinero recaudado ha sido destinado para Unicef y los damnificados de Filipinas.

VENTA DE DELICIOSOS POSTRES:

Algunas alumnas de 1º Bachillerato prepararon diversos postres dulces y saladitos para recaudar fondos para su graduación del año que viene.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS V: 

SUSHI CON MANNY

Al igual que el año pasado nuestro profesor de inglés Manny montó un taller de cocina en el que enseñó a los asistentes a preparar sushi.

 SPECIAL MUSIC

También y como es ya tradición los alumnos de Special Music, acompañados por su profesor Marcos Iglesias, nos deleitaron con varias de sus canciones.

Y además como ya nos tiene acostumbrados y encantados, pues no se pierde ni una, recibimos la visita de Marta Pons, ex alumna y ex concursante del programa La Voz, que vino a deleitarnos precisamente con eso, con su voz.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS IV.

Seguidamente hubo una exposición del periódico "Cum Laude" realizado por los alumnos de 3º eso, en la que nos explicaron las bases del concurso, las secciones que trabajaron, qué fotografías incluyeron.

En las siguientes fotografías aparece Virginia Calvo, profesora de Plástica y Dibujo Técnico, explicándonos el papel de la mujer artista en la sociedad, y algunos alumnos mostrándonos su trabajo.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS III.

TALLER LITERARIO

Entre varias profesoras y dirigidas por la profesora de plástica Virginia, decoramos unas cartulinas para que se recogieran las historias contadas por ancianos de la 3ª edad que vinieron a nuestra jornada de puertas abiertas, para compartir con nosotros vivencias, canciones y relatos de su vida. 
Enrique nuestro jefe del departamento de Humanidades, realizó con ellos un taller literario.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS II.

Continuamos con las visitas guiadas. pero mejor os lo cuenta uno de los protagonistas:

Algunos alumnos fuimos invitados a exponer nuestros proyectos realizados a lo largo del trimestre. Nosotros expusiMos los cuadros que habíamos hecho conjuntamente entre las clases de Lengua, Historia y Plástica.

Fue un día muy agradable y una experiencia que no dudaré en repetir.

WRITING COMPETITION 2014

El pasado viernes 25 de abril celebramos la entrega de premios a los ganadores de las distintas categorias del "Writing Competition" que venimos organizando año tras año para promocionar la escritura en inglés, francés y aleman. Presentes estuvieron todos los cursos de secundaria, los miembros del Departamento de Idiomas y Remedios, la directora. Enhorabuena a los ganadores y todos los participantes.

Winner of the Year 7 (1 ESO) category - a short story

The competition question was based on a Cambridge PET Writing Part 3 task consisting of following the prompt in bold.

I quickly started to open the large box, and it was a puppy! I was absolutely amazed. He was a Jack Russell, and I called him Freddy. Inside the box there was an envelope with my name on it, and inside it there were some tickets for the Training Dog Competition in France on 7th June.

The following day Freddy and I began to train. The first few days I was sad because Freddy didn't do what I told him. Fortunately, a week later Freddy was able to sit down and lie down when He was told. Three weeks later he could role ever, jump and bark when I told him.

Two months later, it was finally the day of the competition. We had a long journey from Spain to France, but e were very excited. And guess what? We won!

Winner of the Year 8 (2 ESO) category - an email to a friend

This competition question was based on a Cambridge FCE Writing Part 1 task consisting of reading part of an email from a friend, using all the notes given and replying in a style appropriate for the situation.

Hi Kim!

I'm glad you wrote me a letter. I hope everything is fine. I can't wait to see you.

I think you should take up guitar lessons because it's easier than the piano, at least for me.  I could also help you if you want like.

It is better to take lessons with other students. For instance, if you have any doubts you can ask them, and they would possibly become your friends.

I'm sure you'd be able to play in a concert in three months, but remember that you could get nervous or forget something. So, I think you should wait for the following concert. You should do it better then.

You have to practise a lot if you want to play well, but don't neglect your studies to practise the guitar.

I hope you write soon!

  Winner of the Year 9 (3 ESO) category - a short story

The task was based on a Cambridge FCE Writing Part 2 task consisting of following the prompt in bold.

Amanda took a deep breath and nervously knocked on the door. She had been dreaming about this moment for months. All that effort and patience was about to pay off. During the last four months she had spent all her spare time preparing herself. She was prepared for the best and worst case scenarios. It might have seemed an exaggeration to some, but it was not. For Amanda, this was the most important thing in life.

She had lived for more than sixteen years without her father and she was about to finally meet him. She had never seen him, not even in photographs. Steps! She could hear heavy steps approaching the door from inside. The door opened. Her heart was pounding. A tall, blond, well dressed man opened the door. Amanda, frightened, dropped an envelope on the ground and ran off. She ran and soon disappeared from the man's sight.

Looking both surprised and confused, he picked up the envelope, sat down on his doormat and read the letter. It contained every single detail about the enquiries Amanda had carried  out in order to find him. Tears suddenly emerged from his eyes. Now, it was time for him to find her.

Winner of the Year 10 (4 ESO) category - a magazine article

The task was based on a Cambridge FCE Writing Part 2 task consisting of writing an article on the theme of interesting or unusual journeys. The students had to describe a journey they had made and explain what made it interesting or unusual.

Celebrity Skiing

Looking for the best place to hide and have a wonderful and peaceful time? The answer is 'The Austrian Alps', where Spanish celebrities choose to spend their skiing holidays. They weren't expecting me and my friends, though.

It all started when my friends and I arrived at the hotel. Surprisingly, the Formula One pilot, Fernando Alonso was staying in the room next door to ours. We managed to meet him while in the spa. He was really friendly and kind, we even went skiing together the following day! Something that shocked us was that he begged us not to tell anyone he was there because he could get into trouble for some reason he didn't tell us.

My friends and I had an amazing experience getting to know fernando and skiing in such a beautiful place. The only thing I didn't quite like was that nobody spoke a word of English or Spanish, only German. It was really hard to make ourselves understood. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this ski trip. And who knows? You might even find a celebrity.

   

Winner of the Year 11 (BACH 1) category - an essay

The task was based on a Cambridge FCE Writing Part 2 task consisting of writing an essay discussing a statement on the theme of the media.

Many people think that there are not enough TV programmes and magazines which address our needs and interests. I would like to start by saying that the media in general does not focus on the important things happening around the world, there is more media coverage of sports and the economy than anything else. From my point of view, there  is a wide range of issues which could be given more attention, one of them being human health.

With reference to human health, and the other issues the media could focus on, there are many innovations in all areas of life. Nevertheless, TV programmes and magazines tell us only about what they think we want to hear, but not the about the real situation of the world. A lot of people do truly important things and/or make new discoveries, and we often do not hear about it. However, this does not mean that all media groups fail to address our interests because some actually carry out their work very well. I just want TV programmes and magazines to cover all areas of life.

To conclude, I must say that the media has a strong influence on our lives. As a result, if we could have access to more varied information, I think people would know more about what is happening in the world and they would have a better opinion about many aspects of life.

JORNADA DE PUERTAS ABIERTAS I: SÁBADO 26 ABRIL 

El Sábado 26 de abril, asisitimos de nuevo a la jornada de puertas abiertas en nuestro colegio.

En ella pudimos disfrutar de distintas actividades de las cuales os intentaré hacer un resumen a continuación.

Comenzamos en el laboratorio de Química donde varios alumnos de 3º y 4º ESO realizaron diversas prácticas que nos cuentan ellos mismos y de las que os muestro varias fotografías a continuación:

Yo realicé una destilación, que es un método de separación. Me pareció muy divertido explicar a los padres mi práctica, que además les gustó bastante.

Yo realicé la cristalización, prática que consiste en separar una sustancia diluída en agua mediante la evaporación de la misma.

Me pareció muy bien poder enseñar lo que hacemos en clase a los padres.  Ricardo Grande.

En  la siguiente foto vemos a Ricardo Schleissner que nos cuenta que realizó una cristalización, que consistía en mezclar sulfato de cobre con agua, para luego separarlos, primero se calienta agua, luego se mezcla el sulfato de cobre con agua, se filtra y se mete un hilo de cobre para que cristalice en el hilo y en mi opinión es bastante interesante y creo que a la gente también le gustó.
